📋 Description

• Design and develop new systems and enhancements to existing systems • Break down complex problems into essential components and build efficient solutions • Work with product teams to understand large development units and identify opportunities for reuse • Own and evolve technical strategy and architectural direction across three teams • Review, enhance, and refactor infrastructure toward modern architectures • Design and develop high-traffic, large-scale software applications, data-flow processes, and deployment infrastructure • Build monitoring, alerting, automated build and deployment pipelines, and application performance measurement systems • Promote best practices for test coverage, enterprise standards, target architecture, high availability, scalability, low latency, and fault tolerance • Establish shared engineering standards, patterns, and guardrails across the wider function • Identify and lead resolution of systemic technical risks and cross-team dependencies • Design and build a comprehensive QA platform or solution • Own solution-design discussions and evaluate tools and technologies for feasibility, cost, and company use • Influence long-term technology decisions and investment priorities with engineering, product, and business stakeholders • Ensure solutions support enterprise architecture, scalability, reliability, and security objectives • Act as a principal technical advisor on significant or long-term decisions • Lead teams developing new systems and initiatives; guide, mentor, and support team members • Review code for quality, correctness, and efficiency • Own day-to-day work-unit deliveries, participate in Agile stand-ups, escalate blockers, and ensure timely completion of tasks and sprint goals • Communicate updates to stakeholders and collaborate on timelines • Help team members develop their skills

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field • Proficiency in one or more of Java, TypeScript, or NodeJS, with willingness to learn the others • 5+ years of experience building high-traffic web applications and deploying to production • Experience with cloud-based platforms, preferably AWS • Experience supporting live applications, debugging, reading logs, and using Grafana or AWS CloudWatch • Experience writing SQL queries and working with SQL databases such as MySQL and NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Kubernetes, and Helm • Experience with code and build tools such as GitLab, CI/CD, Jenkins, and Sonar • Experience working in an Agile team • Ability to handle production issues and on-call support for live systems • Calm personality and ability to see the big picture • Strong verbal communication and ability to clearly communicate ideas and work status • Documentation skills using Confluence, a wiki, or similar • Ability to manage time, deliver work on time, evaluate, and estimate work • Ability to work with technology and product teams and manage expectations • Experience working across multiple teams and on cross-team projects • Desire and experience mentoring junior team members
