📋 Description

• Lead the engineering team in identifying and scoping well-defined tasks • Execute scoped work and deliver on time with quality • Design systems and make architectural decisions supporting Mapbox’s customer growth • Build application code robust to global data • Build and deploy microservices • Diagnose complex system behavior as global markets drive unexpected traffic • Facilitate continuous delivery • Mentor peers through 1:1s, design reviews, code reviews, and continuous guidance • Test and monitor systems and code • Write documentation and participate in on-call support for service health • Reduce technical debt and optimize application performance • Accelerate feature velocity and foster collaboration, transparency, creativity, inclusion, and data-driven decisions

🎯 Requirements

• 8-10+ years of experience building scalable, high-volume, low-latency backend services • Proficiency with Python, NodeJS, and native AWS (CDK, ECS, Step Functions, Lambda, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, CloudFront) • Experience building mapping and geospatial-related products • Familiarity with code versioning tools such as GitHub • Ability to independently perform development tasks based on designs and specifications • Empirical analytical approach, including developing hypotheses, conducting spikes, and communicating findings • High-quality mindset: writing unit tests, proactively remedying defects, and following through to production • Willingness to share expertise through documentation, mentorship, pairing, and written and verbal discussion • Nice to have: proficiency in C++
