📋 Description

• Own the technical architecture and roadmap for MetaMask's Perpetuals experience across Extension and Mobile • Lead real-time price and position data flows, order execution, and margin/liquidation UX • Set technical direction and standards for trading-critical features, precision handling, state consistency, and resilience to feed/connectivity failures • Drive cross-team technical alignment with experience, backend, and protocol integration teams • Identify and de-risk difficult technical problems and make build-vs-buy and architecture trade-off decisions • Partner with the Engineering Manager on prioritization and technical judgment • Mentor senior and mid-level engineers • Run design and architecture reviews and raise technical standards through documentation and code review • Represent Perpetuals engineering in cross-functional planning with Product, Design, and engineering leads

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years working with web and mobile-based technologies • Experience building trading, financial, or other correctness-critical systems involving precision, race conditions, and state consistency • Experience with real-time data systems, WebSockets, streaming price feeds, optimistic UI updates, and resilient UX for unreliable networks • Track record of leading multi-team or multi-codebase technical initiatives without direct reporting authority at Staff-level scope • Hands-on experience with React and React Native • Extensive experience with modern JavaScript (ES6/TypeScript/etc.) • Experience with blockchain fundamentals across multiple blockchain architectures • Strong working knowledge of cross-platform/browser compatibility • Experience working in an agile development team • Experience developing medium- to large-scale full-stack applications with sensible abstractions, testing, linting, and coding/web standards • Experience consuming and building APIs • Demonstrable understanding of Continuous Integration • Strong understanding of financial/trading product security risks, including transaction integrity, race conditions, precision/rounding bugs, XSS, and CSRF • Excellent verbal and written communication in English • Applicants may be required to submit to background and identity verification checks, including employment, education, and criminal record checks
