📋 Description

• Build and maintain software features using Java or Kotlin, Spring Boot and modern web technologies • Develop RESTful APIs supporting internal systems and integrations • Contribute to front-end development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Angular or AngularJS • Write clean, readable and maintainable code • Query, structure and manage data in relational and NoSQL databases • Perform unit, integration and functional testing • Participate in code reviews and resolve defects • Use Git, build tools and CI/CD pipelines in everyday development • Collaborate with product, QA, design, DevOps and engineering teams • Apply engineering practices across security, performance, accessibility and maintainability • Take ownership of assigned work and contribute to shared engineering best practices • Build software supporting national systems, public services and operational environments

🎯 Requirements

• Eligible for security clearance and resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years • Must already have the right to work in the UK • Must demonstrate a pre-existing right to work and travel within the UK; documentary evidence required • Around 2 to 5 years of software development experience, preferably in a commercial development environment • Hands-on experience with Java or Kotlin and object-oriented programming • Exposure to Spring Boot or similar backend frameworks • Working knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases • Familiarity with Git, collaborative development workflows, CI/CD pipelines and automated delivery • Willingness to write and maintain automated tests • Ability to work in an agile team and communicate clearly • Experience or working knowledge of Spring Framework, Spring Data JPA, Hibernate or similar backend technologies • Understanding of REST APIs and service-based development • Front-end development experience using HTML, CSS and JavaScript; ideally TypeScript • Knowledge of frameworks or libraries such as React, Angular, AngularJS or Vue • Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, containers, Kubernetes and CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, GitLab CI or GitHub Actions • Experience with or working towards WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards • Experience in secure, regulated or operationally sensitive environments • Ideally educated to degree level in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related technical discipline • Equivalent practical experience, professional training or relevant certifications considered • Satisfactory vetting, references and occupational health checks required; DBS check may also be required depending on the role
