📋 Description

• Design and build core parts of Notabene’s transaction platform. • Build for correctness under failure, with isolation and auditability required by regulated products. • Scale the platform as transaction volume and institutions per node grow while keeping latency predictable and databases healthy. • Write design documents and review others’ designs and code. • Build with AI agents and improve specifications, context, and review practices for safely shipping agent-written code. • Collaborate with product, compliance, and customer-facing teams to turn regulatory and customer needs into software. • Own production releases, tracing, alerts, and incident follow-ups. • Mentor engineers. • Participate in an on-call rotation.

🎯 Requirements

• Systems design depth; experience designing and owning distributed systems where correctness matters more than features. • Strong Go, or deep production experience in Java, Kotlin, Rust, or C# with willingness to ship Go within the first weeks. • In-depth PostgreSQL: schema design, query plans, locking and isolation levels, live-system migrations, and multi-tenant data. • End-to-end cloud ownership; working knowledge of AWS or GCP, including IAM, networking, managed databases, queues, and storage. • Ability to read and modify Terraform and debug production from traces and logs. • Daily use of coding agents such as Claude Code or Cursor; ability to write specs and context, break down work, and rigorously review agent output. • Staff-level experience delivering large, technically hard projects end to end and helping engineers improve; typically 8+ years building backend systems. • Clear, concise writing in a remote company using documents and asynchronous threads. • Security fundamentals for sensitive data: encryption in transit and at rest, key handling, minimizing personal data, and least-privilege access. • Willingness to work on an on-call rotation.
