📋 Description

• Support medicinal chemistry projects and coordinate synthetic chemistry activities to deliver high-quality small molecule development candidates within competitive timeframes • Safeguard the Company’s intellectual property by advancing its patent estate • Support management of remote teams of medicinal and synthetic chemists at CROs • Integrate and analyse project biology and DMPK data for hit-to-lead and lead optimisation campaigns through rational molecular design • Upload project data to the company database and record it in the ELN • Support patent filings with experimental write-up and data checking • Collaborate with project teams, biology, biophysics, computational sciences colleagues, and external collaborators • Communicate effectively and interpret and summarise complex data for different audiences • Prioritise work according to project goals and ensure timely delivery of objectives • Keep current with state-of-the-art technologies and medicinal chemistry developments

🎯 Requirements

• PhD or MSc in organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry • Strong track record of delivery and breadth/depth of experience in an industrial drug discovery environment • 3–5 years of drug discovery experience • Good knowledge of synthetic and medicinal chemistry • Experience managing remote teams of medicinal and synthetic chemists at Contract Research Organisations • Solid understanding of biological signalling pathways, structure-based drug design, and ADME optimisation in drug discovery • Experience in preclinical drug discovery processes including hit identification, hit-to-lead, and lead optimisation through delivery of development candidates • Right to work in the UK • Nice to have: proficiency analysing and interpreting data from biophysical assays • Nice to have: familiarity with StarDrop, Spotfire, Vortex, or DataWarrior • Nice to have: experience across preclinical drug discovery from target selection and hit identification through delivery of development candidates across multiple programmes • Nice to have: experience assessing the patent landscape around a target • Nice to have: eagerness to develop leadership skills • Nice to have: understanding of cheminformatics and/or modelling software such as PyMol, KNIME, or Torx, and ability to use ML tools to predict assay endpoints • Nice to have: strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and conference presentation experience
