📋 Description

• Develop and ship backend services in Go that process messages from the charging network • Own well-defined projects from design through production • Write maintainable code, automated tests, and clear documentation • Work within existing systems and identify improvement opportunities • Participate in code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing • Support new joiners and less experienced engineers • Contribute to sprint planning, scoping, estimation, kick-offs, and reviews • Shape technical solutions, identify risks, and improve team effectiveness • Monitor system health through dashboards, alerts, and support channels • Investigate issues, improve operations, and automate manual processes • Use AI tools thoughtfully to improve productivity and software delivery • Develop technical skills and identify career progression opportunities

🎯 Requirements

• Experience building and operating backend services in a statically typed, compiled language in a commercial or comparable environment • Go experience highly desirable, or strong experience with Java, C#, Kotlin, Rust, or C++ • Willingness to work with idiomatic Go and embrace its patterns and principles • Practical experience with modern cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS • Familiarity with databases, containerisation, event-driven architectures, Pub/Sub systems, queue-based processing, and virtual networking • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform • Understanding of version control and pull request workflows • Understanding of automated testing strategies and CI/CD pipelines • Knowledge of secure software development practices • Ability to write maintainable and supportable code • Ability to break complex problems into manageable components and deliver solutions independently • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Legal right to work in the UK • Bonus: connected devices and IoT experience • Bonus: exposure to OCPP, MQTT, or similar protocols • Bonus: high-throughput event-driven systems experience • Bonus: security-focused engineering experience • Bonus: TypeScript and Node.js experience • Bonus: observability and monitoring knowledge • Bonus: energy, EV charging, or sustainability experience
