📋 Description

• Set technical and product direction for the Code Plane team • Drive the roadmap from issue to shipped product • Keep the engineering team unblocked and moving • Work across backend, AI agents, and frontend as a generalist • Lead Batch Changes, Agentic Batch Changes, Code Monitors, Code Insights, and the src CLI product surfaces • Partner with Product, Design, Customer Engineering, Solutions Engineering, and adjacent engineering teams • Translate customer feedback into product and technical priorities • Run and use Sourcegraph products as a user and agent • Join the on-call support rotation • Own a meaningful slice of Agentic Batch Changes end-to-end and ship critical pieces • Scope and sequence roadmap projects and clarify ownership and priorities • Improve design, review, testing, and delivery practices • Mentor teammates and build high-trust relationships • Serve as the technical visionary for Code Plane and guide architecture, quality, and product trade-offs • Mobilize engineers to execute the roadmap

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience • Fluency across Go, TypeScript, SvelteKit, React, GraphQL APIs, PostgreSQL, Docker, and Kubernetes in a multi-service environment • Strong technical background with ability to provide guidance on architecture, code quality, and trade-offs • Proven experience building end-user product features, ideally developer tools, agent/AI products, CLIs, or technical product surfaces • Experience partnering with Product and Design to take features from idea to shipped and incorporate customer feedback into the roadmap • Built something that agents or other programs call, such as MCP servers, agent SDKs, tool surfaces, harnesses, or a CLI designed for non-human callers • Hands-on experience using and reasoning about coding agents such as Amp, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar • Async-first communication skills and experience working in a globally distributed remote team • Working hours overlapping with CEST for at least 20 hours per week • Strongly preferred: experience orchestrating autonomous work at scale • Strongly preferred: experience owning an inherited service with paying customers • Strongly preferred: track record of raising engineering standards • Strongly preferred: architectural decision-making under uncertainty • Strongly preferred: experience defining measurements for systems without a single correct answer • Strongly preferred: customer-facing technical discovery experience • Strongly preferred: experience as a Team or Tech Lead
