📋 Description

• Lead a team of developers building and maintaining Tallo’s career discovery and talent connection platform • Coach and support engineers through regular feedback and growth development • Partner with product, design, and technology leaders to set direction, align priorities, and deliver solutions • Attract and retain engineering talent and build a strong team culture • Remove blockers and resolve ambiguity for the team • Collaborate with engineering groups on integrations, best practices, and new technologies • Lead tier-3 engineering support, including triage, resolution, communication, and root-cause fixes • Participate in technical design discussions and architectural decisions • Identify opportunities for innovation in products, tooling, and processes • Use AI tools thoughtfully to improve team effectiveness • Supervise approximately 5–10 full-time and contract employees • Interview, hire, train, assign work, appraise performance, reward or discipline employees, and resolve complaints and problems

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams • Track record of developing people and building strong team cultures • Clear, consistent approach to feedback • Ability to attract, grow, and retain engineering talent • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to influence decisions, navigate disagreement, and present to technical and non-technical audiences • Experience managing teams delivering production software across the full product lifecycle • Understanding of application architecture, integration design, deployment, and testing • Ability to clear a background check • Must be based in the United States • AWS experience is a plus, including API Gateway, Elastic Beanstalk, Aurora, Lambda, S3, and CloudWatch • Java/Spring Boot experience is a plus • React/TypeScript experience is a plus • CI/CD pipeline experience is a plus • Familiarity with mobile development, infrastructure-as-code, enterprise identity/SSO, observability, feature flags, PHP legacy systems, workflow automation, database migration tools, and data pipeline/ETL patterns is a plus • Background in ed-tech, career platforms, or two-sided marketplaces is a plus • Startup or early-stage technology company experience is a plus • Certificates and licenses: none required
