📋 Description

• Own the design, reliability, resilience, and recovery strategy for ingestion pipelines and systems end-to-end, including TSDS • Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for new and existing data sources • Choose batch or streaming approaches for pipelines, including high-scale, low-latency time-series data • Define and enforce data quality checks supporting SLA commitments • Maintain and improve the data platform and address technical debt • Build monitoring, alerting, and observability so issues surface before incidents • Own code quality and standards, including CI checks, linting, tests, and coverage • Optimise pipelines for performance and cost as data volumes grow • Handle late arrivals, reprocessing, and backfills in energy data • Investigate and resolve domain issues, escalating cross-system problems • Help increase data products with defined SLAs from 2 to 10 • Prepare the platform for new data sources supporting international expansion • Identify architecture limitations as scope grows • Collaborate with the AI team as its platform data needs expand • Work with stakeholders and cross-functional leaders on SLAs, technical trade-offs, and delivery

🎯 Requirements

• Strong Python skills, with proven experience building and maintaining production data pipelines • Experience owning the design, reliability, and resilience of a data pipeline or system end-to-end • AWS or GCP experience • Great communication skills and ability to work directly with stakeholders to scope and agree SLAs • Ability to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical audiences • Comfortable working independently against a backlog and making prioritisation decisions • Terraform experience • English fluency: able to speak, read, and write English fluently • Bonus: experience with time-series data at scale • Bonus: experience with modern data stack tooling including Airflow, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or ClickHouse • Bonus: experience in energy or climate tech • Bonus: background in high-growth startups or scale-ups • Bonus: interest in AI tooling and workflows intersecting with data engineering
