• Maintain business-critical services running in AWS • Improve AWS services' reliability, scalability, and security through adoption of fully managed cloud-native technologies • Maintain and enhance the internal Platform supporting development and deployment of business-critical services • Maintain compliance with PCI DSS Level 1 and GDPR • Contribute to architectural design and discovery work • Identify issues and enhancements and propose realistic solutions • Improve system maintainability, reliability, performance, and security • Resolve operational issues, identify root causes, provide interim mitigations, and implement long-term solutions • Participate in an on-call rota Monday–Sunday, once per month on average • Apply relevant best practices consistently • Participate in code reviews • Support and mentor junior and mid-level colleagues • Design, build, maintain, and improve internal Platform functions • Undertake reasonable related tasks as directed by the line manager
• AWS services including VPC, EC2, ELB, Network Firewall, CloudWatch, RDS, KMS, IAM, S3, Lambda, and Route53 • Working knowledge of the OSI model • Ability to securely design and debug cloud networks using the Linux command line and cloud technologies • Linux system administration • Shell scripting • Configuration management • Infrastructure-as-Code tools, ideally Terraform • Version control software • Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) knowledge • Security knowledge including CIS Benchmarks, AWS Security Hub, and OWASP • Experience with monitoring and observability products • Ability to design, test, and implement solutions to business problems in AWS Cloud • Desired: experience in financial services, ideally payment gateways • Desired: experience facilitating annual PCI-DSS Level 1 audits • Desired: ability to develop modern, secure, and testable software using high-level languages, ideally Python • Desired: ability to write test code at all levels of the testing pyramid • Desired: familiarity with CI/CD tools • Desired: experience designing synchronous and event-driven architectures that are highly available, fault-tolerant, and performant • Desired: experience running production services using cloud-based container orchestration technologies • Successful completion of a background verification check • No educational credential is explicitly required
