📋 Description

• Build, extend, and polish the library of fundamental models behind Virtual Jar's coagulation train, including organics/UV254, turbidity, pH, coagulation chemistry, and related pre-oxidation, adsorption, and filtration effects • Deliver new model versions and model types into repositories in Python • Collaborate with the Digital Solutions team to refine and pressure-test scope and requirements • Apply literature-grounded functional forms, calibration, hold-out validation, parameter discipline, uncertainty reporting, and production-quality code within a Git workflow • Develop optimization models across coagulant and adjacent treatment processes, including organic-polymer coagulants, filtration, pre-oxidation, and adsorption • Work with software development engineers on model specifications, calibration, validation, performance, and documentation • Partner with subject-matter experts to incorporate regulatory drivers such as TOC removal requirements, SUVA-based alternative compliance, and DBP rules

🎯 Requirements

• Genuine water-treatment domain fluency centered on coagulation and the treatment train • Knowledge of coagulant behavior, NOM/organics removal, DBP formation, oxidation, and filtration • Degree in chemical, environmental, or civil engineering, or equivalent applied depth • Strong Python engineering skills, including building, testing, documenting, and shipping model code in a Git workflow • Scientific modeling discipline, including calibration, validation, parameter control, and reporting • Exceptional communication skills for highly technical discussions with scientists, engineers, and developers • Ability to collaborate across teams and help scope work • Judgment to flag feasibility or other concerns early • Initiative to help resolve feasibility and other concerns • Willingness to travel occasionally, approximately 10% • Applied or published experience with coagulation, NOM/organics, ozonation, adsorption, or filtration modeling is preferred • Familiarity with statistical/ML methods alongside physically grounded models is preferred • Experience translating research models into deployed software is preferred • Must be able to work without employment visa sponsorship; USALCO does not offer employment visa sponsorships upon hire or in the future
