📋 Description

• Report to the CTO and help WalletConnect build and scale its Financial Services engineering team • Lead a cross-functional squad of engineers building value-added services spanning DeFi access, treasury management, and security and compliance • Run the squad's operating rhythm, including planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, with the Product Manager • Set team OKRs with Product and translate company goals into squad priorities • Hold the team accountable to goals and remove blockers • Conduct regular 1:1s, coach engineers across seniority levels, and build career paths • Run fair performance reviews and address underperformance early • Review designs and architecture, challenge trade-offs, and foster high-quality code • Own reliability outcomes including SLOs, error budgets, alert quality, on-call rotation, and blameless incident reviews • Balance roadmap, technical debt, and operational work while clearly explaining decisions • Align and mediate across Product, Design, other squads, and leadership • Partner with the People team on hiring, interviews, candidate closing, onboarding, and time-to-productivity • Monitor team health, delivery risk, and design drift using data and judgment

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years managing engineers • Technical depth in building and operating distributed systems at scale • Track record of building, growing, and retaining high-performing teams • Experience leading remote-first, distributed teams • Experience owning delivery of business-critical services where accuracy and reliability are paramount • Structured and disciplined planning • Pragmatic decision-making • Honest, charismatic communication and natural mediation • Self-aware, context-aware, and coachable, with strong instincts • Financial infrastructure domain depth including CEX integrations, custody or treasury systems, onchain swaps and DeFi protocols, reconciliation, or transaction/address screening • Personal or professional experience with crypto/web3 • Experience with Rust and TypeScript services on AWS, Grafana-based observability, and infrastructure-as-code • Experience introducing squad-level operating standards such as SLOs, error budgets, and DORA-style delivery metrics
