• Perform a variety of appropriately delegated patient care interventions for patients in the MedSurg department and their families. • Clinical services could include, but are not limited to: obtaining vital signs, bathing and feeding, dressing wounds, assisting with hygiene, cleaning rooms and linens, and emotional support. • Perform a variety of environmental and inventory activities to ensure a safe, clean, and appropriately equipped environment for patients, visitors, and staff in the MedSurg department. • Contribute to the efficient operation of the MedSurg department ensuring quality patient/family clinical outcomes.
• A high school diploma or GED certificate • Certification in basic life support (BLS), including CPR certification (must be current or obtained within 30 days of employment) • Ability to pass clinical competency testing • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities • Basic math and computer proficiency • One of the following : • – One year of previous experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute hospital setting • – Currently enrolled in a nursing program and have completed two cycles of clinical rotation • – Completed an approved Patient Care Technician training • – Completed an approved certified medical assistant training • – One year of previous experience as an EMT or field medic (considered for adult ED positions only) • Fluency in another language a plus • Previous medical/surgical experience preferred
