📋 Description

• Responsible to collect and record specific data elements from patient medical records based on established criteria and guidelines • Perform data entry for clinical data systems • Abstract clinical findings from designated medical records and/or electronic medical record systems for use in internal performance improvement as well as for defined regulatory requirements • Utilize established guidelines, data definitions, and criteria • Perform data entry according to specified format • Generate established reports as needed • Coordinate/clarify data collection issues and questions by consulting with the data analyst • Establish work schedule whereby requests are processed on a timely basis • Attain accuracy standards within six months of employment and maintain thereafter • Participate in quality improvement activities and serve on Performance Improvement teams as appropriate • Use appropriate telephone etiquette • Utilize email/IDX, EPIC, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. • Maintain department operational manuals • Monitor and order supplies

🎯 Requirements

• High School graduate or GED • Minimum one‐year experience working with medical records or results reporting (i.e., one‐year unit clerk) • Anatomy and Physiology or related course work • Basic Medical Terminology course • Computer/typing/data entry skills desired • Prior exposure to cardiovascular terminology preferable • Equivalent of one‐year proven experience with medical terminology and procedures (i.e., auditing, coding, abstracting, work in a physician’s office and will complete the Basic Medical Terminology Course if selected for the position)
