• The Clinical Care Consultant - USPS will be responsible for handling telephone contacts that require a counselor at the time of the call and follow-up with sensitive cases. • Provides telephonic consultation, risk assessment, crisis intervention, and referrals for high-risk individuals, including urgent and emergent cases involving risk of harm, abuse, duty to warn, and substance use concerns. • Conducts clinical reviews, case management follow-up, brief interventions, and coordinates care and referrals to appropriate mental health, community, and treatment resources beyond EAP services when needed. • Serves as a clinical subject matter expert by providing real-time consultation, collaboration, and emergency care coordination for Intake Clinicians, leadership, HR, and management on complex workplace and critical incident cases. • Supports service center operations through issue triage, workflow assistance, new hire training, crisis management education, and expertise related to USPS programs and day-to-day clinical processes. • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of mental health diagnoses, treatment modalities, EAP benefits, crisis response, and professional client interactions while effectively managing multiple systems and priorities in a fast-paced environment. • Maintains compliance with organizational policies, regulatory standards, documentation requirements, screening and referral protocols, and actively collaborates with multidisciplinary teams through case presentations and staff participation.
• A master’s and/or doctorate degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the corresponding professional association(s) in a clinical mental health field • A current state license or state certification to practice as a mental health practitioner in the state(s) where practice takes place • A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience after receiving the graduate degree • Demonstrated capability to complete accurate bio-psychosocial assessments, including substance abuse assessments • Specialized experience and/or training in phone counseling • Counselors will be knowledgeable about federal and state laws governing privacy, confidentiality, duty to warn and child and elder abuse reporting requirements • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Strong computer skills • Authority to practice at the independent level without requiring state-mandated clinical supervision. • Ability to pass background check upon hire and throughout employment.
