📋 Description

• Assist in providing analytical support for external partners, overseeing activities to support genomic investigations (e.g., pathogen outbreaks), to ensure timely and effective solutions that address partner needs. • Assist in the development and delivery of Theiagen training workshops, supporting all aspects from material preparation to logistics and communication with external partners. • Contribute informed perspective to development initiatives, including experimental design to validate development work, conducting literature reviews, and thoroughly testing solutions. • Ensure adherence to, and continuous improvement of, internal training and analytical support practices. • Regularly communicate with their Public Health Team Lead to summarize critical information, ensuring alignment on project statuses, challenges, and milestones for informed decision-making. • Seek mentorship from senior team members to develop skills and knowledge, while contributing to a culture of learning and technical excellence within the team. • Perform other duties as assigned.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics, biostatistics, microbiology, molecular biology, or a related field. • Demonstrated experience applying bioinformatics tools and workflows to answer biological questions, particularly in pathogen genomics. • Proficiency in using standard bioinformatics tools for tasks such as NGS quality assessment, genome assembly, annotation, taxonomic classification, and antimicrobial resistance detection. • Basic knowledge of statistical approaches and bioinformatics pipelines for analyzing next-generation sequencing (NGS) data. • Familiarity with genomic epidemiology methods, such as MLST typing or outbreak investigation tools. • Ability to work on multiple projects in a collaborative team environment with minimal supervision. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Motivation and commitment to advancing public health. • **Preferred Skills:** • Familiarity with public health laboratory processes and workflows. • Experience interpreting results from bioinformatics workflows for actionable insights. • Familiarity with cloud-based bioinformatics platforms (e.g., Terra.bio, Galaxy) or workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Nextflow, WDL, or Snakemake). • Experience with visualization and reporting tools for presenting results. • Familiarity with shell scripting and working in UNIX/Linux environments.
