📋 Description

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll journal entries, general ledger, and bank reconciliations • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes • Ensure accurate accruals and cutoff procedures across multiple departments and entities • Prepare monthly WIP reports with GAAP-compliant revenue recognition • Reconcile WIP to the general ledger and explain variances • Support field leaders in interpreting backlog, under/over billings, and percent completion • Oversee progress billing, milestone billing, service invoicing, and retention tracking • Ensure timely and accurate customer invoicing and A/R follow-up • Monitor revenue recognition based on completed work and contracts • Lead annual budgeting, including labor burden estimates and materials projections • Prepare rolling forecasts and cash flow projections • Analyze actuals versus budget and report variances to leadership • Coordinate year-end reviews or audits with the Corporate Controller • Assist with sales tax, property tax, and use tax filings • Maintain internal controls and safeguard assets • Collaborate with field operations and project managers on financial processes • Partner with HR/payroll for labor tracking, benefits costs, and reconciliations • Use ERP/accounting, job costing/dispatch, spreadsheet, business intelligence, and payroll systems

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (required) • CPA preferred • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience • At least 3 years in a controller or senior accounting leadership role • Prior experience in the construction, mechanical contracting, HVAC, plumbing, or other skilled trades industry is required • Strong understanding of WIP accounting, job costing, and contract billing practices • Proficiency in construction-related accounting software (e.g., Foundation, Viewpoint, Sage 300 CRE, QuickBooks Contractor Edition, or similar ERP systems) • Deep knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial statement preparation • Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills with the ability to collaborate across departments • Advanced Excel and Google Sheets proficiency • Legally authorized to work in the US • Available to work East Coast business hours • Located on the East Coast
