📋 Description

• Transform AI innovation, including LLM-powered workflows, real-time fraud defenses, and hyperpersonalized checkout flows, into production payment systems • Architect and own end-to-end AI/ML solutions at global scale • Partner with product, software, operations, and data science teams to turn complex requirements into low-latency services • Set technical standards for model governance, continuous learning, and engineering excellence • Spearhead LLM agents, real-time anomaly detectors, and other AI/ML solutions • Identify high-leverage opportunities and refine AI/ML requirements • Make architecture decisions and measure business value using data-driven metrics • Design, train, deploy, and operate large-scale AI applications for batch and streaming workloads • Ensure low latency, high reliability, and continuous improvement through automated monitoring and retraining loops • Mentor and inspire teammates while fostering experimentation and production excellence • Help shape Airbnb’s broader AI strategy

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of industry experience in applied AI/ML, inclusive MS or PhD in relevant fields • Strong programming skills in Python and Java • Data engineering skills • Modern AI/LLM workflow expertise, including prompt engineering, fine-tuning with LoRA and RLHF, hallucination mitigation, safety guardrails, and online/offline testing • Hands-on experience with at least three of: PyTorch/TensorFlow, scalable inference stacks, vector search, orchestration/MLOps platforms such as Kubeflow or Airflow, and large-scale data streaming and processing such as Spark, Ray, or Kafka • Experience designing, deploying, and monitoring production AI systems • Experience with drift, cost, and latency monitoring and automated retraining triggers • Ability to translate ambiguous business needs into measurable AI impact • Prior knowledge of AI/ML applications in the Payments domain is highly desirable • Must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity
