📋 Description

• Design, implement, and maintain systems and services forming the foundation of Alpaca’s brokerage infrastructure • Build and maintain the modern ledger system as the source of truth for account activity and transactional data • Collaborate with finance, operations, and product teams to deliver high-impact features and projects • Build backend systems/components with integrity, maintainability, scalability, and stability • Own delivery of high-visibility features/projects from design to deployment • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve the health of Alpaca’s systems • Autonomously design and implement solutions while helping define goals with a cross-functional team

🎯 Requirements

• A seasoned engineer with 5+ years of experience working on systems at scale • Strong coding skills, preferably in Go • Experience with IDLs (e.g., protobuf), RPC frameworks (e.g., gRPC), cloud platforms (e.g., GCP), and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL) • Ability to debug issues or foresee problems and avoid them entirely • Experience architecting and building at scale • Ability to create alignment with technical and non-technical stakeholders • Experience in the financial services or accounting industry (nice-to-have) • Experience with distributed systems/databases (nice-to-have) • Experience with event-driven systems and messaging brokers (e.g., Redpanda) (nice-to-have) • Experience working remotely (nice-to-have) • Experience working at a startup (nice-to-have)
