• Lead ARC’s communications function in partnership with the CEO and department leads • Own the annual communications and marketing plan aligned to ARC’s strategic goals • Manage shared content calendars, ownership, timelines, prioritization, and cross-department planning • Set priorities and recommend resource tradeoffs • Grow communications reach, impact, infrastructure, and capabilities • Design and execute integrated, multi-channel fundraising campaigns with the development team • Produce donor stewardship communications, impact reports, annual reports, and major-gift materials • Lead story-based fundraising communications • Lead ARC’s brand strategy and architecture • Plan messaging for major initiatives, programs, partnerships, and organizational changes • Lead a comprehensive year-one website redesign with an external contractor • Own ongoing website content, performance, and improvement • Develop storytelling featuring patient, caregiver, and clinician voices • Translate scientific and clinical findings into accessible content for lay audiences • Own email communications, newsletters, automated segmentation, and list health • Set and execute social media strategies across platforms • Manage the monthly blog editorial cadence, authors, editing, and scientific advisor review • Support programs with communications materials and templates • Lead communications for signature convenings, educational programs, and collaborative programs • Monitor field developments and produce rapid-response content • Maintain communications dashboards and provide monthly updates and quarterly reports • Evaluate campaign performance and improve communications based on results • Manage external vendors, contractors, and the communications budget • Evaluate and adopt emerging tools, including AI, with quality and human oversight
• 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit communications, marketing, or external relations • Direct experience supporting fundraising and donor communications • Experience advising senior leaders • Experience developing thought leadership, media relations, or external communications strategy • Demonstrated success planning and executing integrated, multi-channel email, social, web, and print campaigns • Measurable success growing engagement and/or revenue • Exceptional writing and editing skills • Ability to communicate complex or scientific content clearly to lay audiences • Experience evaluating and adopting emerging communications technologies, including AI-enabled tools • Strong project management and executive function • Ability to prioritize across many projects and structure cross-functional work • Hands-on execution experience • Experience selecting and managing external vendors • Experience with larger-scale website redesigns or other major digital projects • Ability to define KPIs, build dashboards, and use metrics to drive decisions • Preferred: experience in rare disease, patient advocacy, health, or scientific/medical nonprofit organizations • Preferred: experience with CRM and email platforms; Salesforce is a plus • Preferred: experience with social tools and design tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite • Preferred: experience with brand strategy or brand architecture • Preferred: experience in a small, entrepreneurial nonprofit or lean, fast-paced organization • Ability to work Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time • Must submit a resume and cover letter; applications without a cover letter are incomplete
