📋 Description

• Learn and build expertise across Airflow and data engineering, Kubernetes, and cloud engineering • Solve challenging Apache Airflow problems for customers, including configuration optimization and bug identification • Spend up to 20% of work time on side projects, such as contributing to the open-source Airflow repository or developing internal monitoring and alerting systems • Work on Astronomer’s cloud-native managed Airflow product • Work directly with customers’ data engineers, system administrators, DevOps teams, and management • Provide feedback that can shape the direction of the Airflow project • Own the customer experience by prioritizing and solving issues, meeting SLAs, and providing guidance toward production • Participate remotely within a fully distributed team • Help maintain 24x7 coverage through a specified six-hour pager period during the workday • Participate in paid on-call rotation for weekend coverage

🎯 Requirements

• Data engineering background • 4 years of experience with Python • 1 year of experience in Airflow administration and DAG creation • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containers • Experience working with distributed systems on AWS, GCP, or Azure • Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities • Ability to work autonomously and independently • Strong written and verbal communication for customer interactions through ticketing systems and Zoom • Experience mentoring junior team members • Contributions to open-source projects (bonus) • Customer support experience (bonus) • Familiarity with SQL and PostgreSQL (bonus) • Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, dbt, or similar data engineering tools (bonus) • Authorization to work in the United States is queried in the application form • Work visa sponsorship requirements are queried in the application form
