Beacon Biosignals partners with biopharma companies, academic medical centers, and neurotechnology developers to improve the diagnosis and treatment of neurological and psychiatric diseases.

📋 Description

• Partner with product managers, scientific and clinical stakeholders, internal stakeholders, and development and support teams to translate requirements into integrations, services, and solutions for scaling Beacon's data platform • Implement features with attention to data integrity, design soundness, and maintainability • Draft RFCs to lead complex feature discovery and technical design phases • Ensure correctness when data moves between systems, including completeness, idempotency, and predictable behavior under partial failure • Improve operational robustness and ease of use of the Datastore and its services through documentation, tools, and dashboards • Design and scale backend systems using PostgreSQL data models, Kafka-driven event pipelines, and a GraphQL API • Lead the design and integration of new services and components for data and event processing • Own pipelines that deliver dataset snapshots into the warehouse • Collaborate with platform and application teams to implement APIs supporting clinical study and digital health workflows

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience, including at least 2 years focused on data platforms and backend infrastructure for data-centric applications • Strong proficiency in SQL • Production experience with PostgreSQL as an application database • Experience with data streaming and event processing using Kafka or an equivalent such as RabbitMQ, Pulsar, or Amazon Kinesis • Proficiency in Julia or Python • Experience deploying and operating services in containerized environments • Familiarity with Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and/or Helm • Experience with GraphQL and TypeScript/JavaScript (Node.js) • Collaborative mindset • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Self-directed approach and experience thriving in hybrid or fully remote teams
