• Ongoing inspection of work at specific stop/inspection points during the construction • Ensure that construction follows and meets BC Hydro’s/Owner specifications and standards by scheduling daily site visits during the construction phase of the project • Monitor that the contractor’s underground plan adheres to the related safety standards • Confirm that the contractor’s works are satisfactorily completed in accordance with BC Hydro’s/Owner specifications and standards • Provide final inspection and certification of installation work completed before confirming that site can be energized
• Graduated from high school and completed a basic civil inspection or survey course • Minimum of 3 years of utility construction experience related to electrical utility underground construction • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Civil Inspector or equivalent civil inspector experience in the utility industry • Completion of Power Supply Safety Program (PSSP) course within eight months of hire • Responsible for completion of PSSP re-certification training every 2 years as required by BC Hydro • Strong working knowledge of desktop productivity applications such as Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent • Ability to interpret specifications, standards, and drawings • Previous experience in civil construction inspection or surveying preferred • Strong conflict resolution, communication, and stakeholder management skills • Willing and able to work outdoors in variable weather conditions • Valid driver’s license
