Bladder Cancer Canada is a nationally registered Canadian charity founded in 2009 by two bladder cancer survivors. Dedicated to supporting the 80,000 Canadians living with bladder cancer and the 12,500 new diagnoses each year, the organization focuses on patient support, awareness, fundraising, and research advocacy. With guidance from a Medical Advisory Board of top bladder cancer specialists, their mission includes helping patients manage their daily challenges, raising public and medical awareness, and funding research to improve diagnosis, treatment, and ultimately eradicate bladder cancer.

📋 Description

• Develop and execute bilingual English/French awareness campaigns reaching people affected by bladder cancer • Expand brand reach across channels through stakeholder and influencer partnerships, social media growth, and newsletter subscription growth • Ensure consistent brand voice, visual identity, and accurate bilingual messaging • Coordinate, guide, and provide editorial feedback to two direct reports and multiple volunteers • Draft and refine social media content, national announcements, media releases, executive briefing notes, and key messaging documents • Oversee bilingual translation workflows across public touchpoints • Manage external vendors and freelancers producing and publishing educational resources • Develop and maintain a centralized multi-platform communications calendar • Lead website strategy, layout design, and ongoing content management, including bilingual accuracy, accessibility, and SEO • Track, analyze, and report communications performance metrics including web traffic, email engagement, and digital outreach • Travel nationally approximately twice a year to host and facilitate educational events, conferences, and stakeholder gatherings • Support technical setup and coordination of seminars, webinars, digital town halls, live support group meetings, and hybrid events • Provide occasional evening and weekend event and virtual support group coverage

🎯 Requirements

• Prior experience in corporate communications, public relations, digital strategy, or non-profit communications • Experience managing project teams and mentoring junior staff is strongly preferred • Native or full professional fluency in written and spoken English and French is mandatory • Degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience • Advanced proficiency with CMS platforms such as WordPress • Advanced proficiency with email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact and Mailchimp • Proficiency with virtual event tools including Zoom and Microsoft Teams • Video and graphic design competence using Adobe Creative Suite or Canva • Familiarity with analytics platforms and CRM systems • Warm, empathetic communication style suited for community and patient support environments • Strong leadership and time-management capabilities • Reliable home office setup • Willingness and ability to travel nationally across Canada for in-person events • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada • Police background check is a required condition of employment
