📋 Description

• Protect BMO's value proposition and reduce assignments to third parties • Maximize liquidation of portfolios worked by the team • Work primarily on high-value-at-risk accounts under the Manager, HVAR • Negotiate amicable solutions using debt collection practices and Canadian privacy and collection laws • Educate customers on their contractual obligations and payment options • Handle sensitive customer situations, inquiries, escalations, and dissatisfied customers • Research issues, identify root causes, and propose appropriate solutions to minimize losses and mitigate risk • Interview customers and update financial and demographic profiles and security status • Maintain complete and accurate documentation • Identify and recommend improvements to operational effectiveness, processes, and procedures • Preserve customer relationships while protecting the bank from financial, legal, and reputational risk • Identify potential risks and engage management • Share best practices and specialized knowledge with teammates and the collections organization • Collaborate with multiple lines of business to improve risk management, performance, and compliance • Drive decision-making based on facts, data, observations, and analysis • Communicate and present information to various management levels • Research, gather, and analyze data; lead or support initiatives and recommend solutions to management • Represent the business unit as a subject matter expert in policy and procedure implementation and meetings • Perform other duties and special projects as required

🎯 Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of BMO Retail lending products and collection procedures • In-depth knowledge of Canadian privacy legislation and the Collection Act • Extensive understanding of secured and unsecured portfolios • Good working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Microsoft Office • Good working knowledge of Strata, ECP, Angular tool, TSYS, Optimizer, and MDIF • Good working knowledge of financial statements, Bank OSFI standards, and Business Recovery Planning • Good practical knowledge of business computer systems • Excellent knowledge of collection processes and procedures • Knowledge and skills in skip tracing techniques • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Professional and courteous phone manner • Strong interpersonal, analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills • Demonstrated ability to resolve difficult client exchanges through service-oriented interactions • Ability to work independently or as part of a small team in a busy, fast-paced environment • Flexibility to work rotating Monday–Friday day/evening shifts, bi-weekly Saturday rotations, and bi-weekly Sunday rotations
