📋 Description

• Define and drive the multi-year architectural evolution of CD Baby’s customer-facing platform from a .NET monolith to a modular, service-based architecture • Decompose the monolith into encapsulated services for distribution, royalties, analytics, catalog management, and accounts • Select appropriate programming languages and data stores for each service • Own the application data model, ORM patterns, schema design, and data-access conventions • Partner with Data Engineering on models and pipelines flowing into Snowflake • Write production back-end code as a Principal individual contributor • Help complete the migration from on-premises infrastructure to Azure cloud • Establish and uphold CI/CD, automated testing, observability, performance, and security standards • Plan continuous delivery that combines platform modernization with customer-facing product releases • Mentor engineers through hands-on collaboration and example • Collaborate with front end, SDET, data engineering, design, product management, infrastructure, and internal tools teams • Report to the Director of Engineering

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive back-end software engineering experience, including significant technical leadership as Principal, Staff, or equivalent IC • Proven production experience decomposing a monolithic application into a service-based architecture while keeping it operational • Deep current expertise in .NET (C#) and SQL Server at scale in containerized environments on a major cloud • Azure experience preferred; AWS or GCP experience translates • Working fluency in at least one of Go, Node.js, or Python • Experience selecting and operating workload-appropriate data stores beyond relational databases • Strong ORM experience, including Entity Framework, Dapper, or equivalents • Expertise in schema design, data modeling, migrations, and ORM/query-performance trade-offs at scale • Hands-on API contract design using REST, GraphQL, or gRPC, including versioning, evolution, and contract testing • Strong understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and safe continuous delivery at scale • Experience partnering with data engineering on analytical pipelines • Technical authority across back-end architecture, distributed systems, data modeling, and cloud platforms • Ability to explain technical trade-offs to engineers, product partners, and executives • Music, media, or entertainment industry experience is welcome but not required
