📋 Description

• Help build and define Chess.com’s creative vision and visual style • Help move Chess.com’s art style toward more playful, fun, and challenging designs • Contribute to product and branding initiatives • Create illustrative assets that bring the creative vision to life • Collaborate with product, animation, motion design, and engineering teams • Build environments, objects, storyboards, characters, clothing, and other 2D art assets

🎯 Requirements

• Grand Master command of designing vector artwork using tools like Adobe Illustrator and Figma • Excellent 2D art and illustration skills • Keen eye for composition, perspective, color theory, and directing the viewer’s eye • Comfortable creating environments, objects, storyboards, characters, and clothing • Superb imagination and creativity within a creative world and interactive product • Ability to match established art styles and work in varied illustration and vector-art styles • 3+ years of experience in a gaming environment • Ability to learn new technical skills and concepts quickly • Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment • Ability to collaborate across small team pods and larger product teams • Ability to own pipeline deliverables autonomously with some support • Versatile and flexible in a fast-moving environment • Portfolio demonstrating the needs of the role • Passion for games and excitement around sharing chess • Knowledge of animation pipelines for building 2D game-animation assets • Experience with motion design tools such as Lottie, Rive, or CSS
