📋 Description

• Build and operate low-latency, event-sourced trading systems spanning matching, order entry, risk, and market data across cloud and colocated environments • Own reliability and correctness of production systems processing high-throughput financial data 24/7 • Respond to incidents and design failover systems • Partner with Product, Infrastructure, and senior engineering leadership to translate strategy into quarterly deliverables and well-scoped milestones • Drive technical design decisions, produce clear proposals, and build consensus with peers and tech leads • Write high-quality, well-tested performance-critical backend code in Java, C++, or Go • Build and operate systems powering Coinbase’s institutional exchange, including matching engines, order management, market data, and funding rate computation

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience (60 months minimum) • Hands-on ownership of production trading, exchange, or financial infrastructure systems at scale • Deep proficiency in a backend language such as Java, C++, or Go • Experience with JVM or Linux performance tuning for latency-sensitive workloads • Track record designing and operating highly reliable distributed systems processing high volumes with strict correctness and uptime requirements (24/7) • Experience partnering with Product and cross-functional teams to scope and deliver complex technical projects on clear timelines • Genuine interest in crypto and institutional markets, with ability to ramp quickly • Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight • US work location eligibility implied by “Remote - USA” and “US Applicants” notices
