📋 Description

• Own Aetna Technology AI reference architectures for model serving, multi-model orchestration, retrieval, and evaluation across AWS-primary and multicloud infrastructure • Define agentic architecture, including agent orchestration, domain agents, and reusable skills layers • Set API-first integration standards and criteria for MCP exceptions • Design and maintain paved-road golden patterns for building, serving, and evaluating models and agents • Embed guardrails, evaluation, and safety controls into AI development practices • Define model evaluation and benchmarking practices • Establish controls for regulated and sensitive data, including PHI • Define instrumentation connecting AI investment to measurable outcomes, labor-redeployment signals, and usage telemetry • Partner with platform and finance teams on cost-aware AI architecture and unit economics • Author AI standards enforced through automated gates and paved-road defaults • Contribute to architecture governance, technology radar input, and design reviews with Enterprise Architecture • Evaluate emerging models, frameworks, and agentic tooling and recommend adoption directions • Translate AI architecture trade-offs for senior technology leaders and peer architects • Coach Solution Architects and senior engineers through design reviews without direct reporting relationships • Partner with strategic AI vendors and internal platform teams

🎯 Requirements

• 12+ years in technology • Deep, hands-on experience in AI/ML platform and solution architecture at Aetna Technology scale • Expert-level command of model serving, multi-model orchestration, retrieval, and evaluation on cloud platforms • AWS experience; GCP/Azure familiarity preferred • Ownership of AI reference architectures and paved-road/golden-path patterns for model and agent development • Hands-on experience designing agentic systems, including orchestration, tool/skill layers, and API/MCP integration patterns • Strong grounding in responsible AI, model evaluation, and guardrail design • Track record of driving technical outcomes through influence and design authority as an individual contributor • Experience in healthcare, health insurance, or similarly regulated industries preferred • Familiarity with FinOps and cost-aware AI architecture preferred • Experience instrumenting AI ROI and adoption metrics for executive audiences preferred • Experience with infrastructure-as-code and automated policy/guardrail enforcement preferred • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience
