âą Receive and review complaints and initial information to gain a clear understanding of the situation to be investigated. âą Identify the issues to be examined and develop a comprehensive plan to investigate the complaint or report. âą Conduct investigations into complaints and reports. âą Determine the techniques required to carry out thorough and objective investigations. âą Locate, obtain and analyze information and documentation relevant to the investigation. âą Identify inconsistencies and gaps in information. âą Conduct telephone interviews with key witnesses and prepare summaries of interviews. âą Document all verbal communications related to the investigation. âą Investigate to locate witnesses and other information necessary to the investigation. âą Prepare the documentation required to obtain information and record investigative findings. âą Organize and compile investigation files. âą Provide testimony regarding investigative content or process at disciplinary hearings.
âą Two- or three-year college diploma. âą Bilingual (French/English, CEFR C1 level) required. âą One to three years' experience in the regulatory sector or in early childhood education. âą Knowledge of investigative techniques to enable information gathering. âą Knowledge of the early childhood education sector and professional regulation. âą Knowledge and understanding of legal and administrative principles. âą Knowledge of the Early Childhood Educators Act, 2007 and of the College's Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. âą Judgment and analytical skills to assess risks and identify issues. âą Flexibility to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. âą Excellent written communication skills to prepare clear, detailed and accurate investigative documents. âą Active listening, oral communication and interpersonal skills to communicate with diverse stakeholders (e.g., courts, police, complainants, employers). âą Resilience, tact and diplomacy when communicating with individuals who may be upset or frustrated about sensitive matters. âą Professional judgment to ensure information disclosed is appropriate and to maintain neutrality in all cases and matters handled. âą Attention to detail to prepare accurate summaries of investigation files and strong time-management skills.
