📋 Description

• Provide power system analysis and investigate the origin and cause of fires, explosions, equipment failures, product failures, lightning strikes, electric shocks, power surges, storms, floods, wind, hail, water intrusion, and construction defects • Inspect losses and loss scenes at residential, commercial, and industrial buildings • Investigate and assess damages and evidence caused by failures • Determine failure origins for insurers and litigation support • Analyze and document failure analysis and causation • Examine and test evidence in laboratory settings • Research failure modes, products, installations, and maintenance related to findings • Collaborate with experts to produce detailed origin-and-cause reports • Serve as an expert witness in court and depositions • Provide guidance and leadership on complex engineering assignments • Guide newer or less experienced colleagues • Document and maintain billable hours on a time-and-expense basis

🎯 Requirements

• Experienced Electrical Engineer • Strong background in power system analysis • Knowledge of codes and standards • Experience with equipment and system failures • Experience with fire origin and cause investigations • Experience with lightning and surge damage analysis • Experience with product liability • Experience with construction defects • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university • Professional Engineer (PE) license required for the resident state • Multi-state licensing and/or active NCEES Record preferred • Expert witness testimony experience is a plus • Willingness to learn about power generation, grids, distribution, over-current protection, arc-fault and ground-fault protection, installation standards of care, and arc mapping • Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods • Ability to kneel, squat, bend, climb, crawl, stoop, reach, and work overhead • Ability to work outdoors in hot and cold weather • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds • Ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds • Ability to drive up to 4 hours per day
