• Conduct on-site risk control evaluations and surveys for sophisticated and niche-market policyholders • Identify exposures, assess existing controls, and prepare and communicate risk control reports • Consult with policyholders on operations, claims trends, insured coverages, and hazard-reduction recommendations • Customize consultative services addressing loss drivers and exposures • Serve as a primary technical resource in an assigned specialized focus area • Provide technical expertise and guidance to Risk Control team members • Collaborate on advanced technical questions with team members and subject matter experts • Provide updates to Underwriting, Sales, and Claims to support renewal decision-making • Promote risk control functions through agency visits and industry presentations • Explain business operations, hazards, and controls associated with coverages • Deliver advanced training and on-site loss control surveys • Identify accounts needing ongoing or focused short-term service • Analyze previous losses and current exposures for large complex accounts and develop service plans • Provide tailored hazard control, ergonomic, and slip-fall assessments and document service reports • Develop positive relationships with accounts and agents • Perform other duties as assigned
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in a safety, engineering, industrial safety, or fire protection related field, or equivalent relevant experience • Five years of experience in risk control, safety, or related experience • Certified safety professional certification preferred • Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite • Strong knowledge of industrial, construction, fire, and commercial automotive safety • Good knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and NFPA standards and codes • Strong ability to understand and evaluate risk • Ability to identify and visualize potential loss exposures • Strong problem-solving skills • Strong customer service skills • Ability to work effectively with others and independently • Ability to multitask and prioritize to meet deadlines • Good verbal and written communication and documentation skills • Travel required • Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards required if driving
