📋 Description

• Serve as the in-house expert on discovery practice across personal injury jurisdictions, including interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, objections, meet-and-confer standards, and motions to compel • Define and maintain quality standards, templates, and playbooks • Personally review or spot-check output on complex or high-risk cases • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to translate discovery expertise into AI-assisted workflow systems • Stay current on statutory and common-law changes affecting discovery nationwide • Update team guidance and client-facing SLAs • Act as escalation point for legally sensitive judgment calls, jurisdiction-specific objection strategy, privilege issues, and uncovered edge cases • Design the end-to-end delivery workflow covering intake, drafting, QA/review, client sign-off, and turnaround guarantees • Build the delivery team staffing model • Own and report metrics including turnaround time, quality/error rate, client satisfaction, and throughput per FTE • Identify and implement process improvements as volume scales • Determine where automation and human review should be used • Hire, coach, and develop the team • Serve as primary point of contact between the Discovery team and firm leadership/clients for escalations, edge cases, and account-level issues • Report to the VP, Operations

🎯 Requirements

• J.D. and active bar license in good standing in at least one U.S. state • 7+ years of personal injury litigation experience • Substantial hands-on discovery work, including drafting and defending written discovery, objections, and motion practice around discovery disputes • Prior experience managing people and/or leading a team or function • Comfort operating with metrics and SLAs • Working fluency with legal tech/AI-assisted drafting tools • Clear point of view on where AI output needs human judgment • Ability to translate legal nuance into clear, buildable guidance for engineers, product managers, and operations staff • Comfort with ambiguity
