📋 Description

• Oversee day-to-day finance operations, reconciliations, AP/AR, payroll entries, and balance-sheet accounts • Prepare quarterly financial reports and consolidated restricted/unrestricted statements for the CEO and Board • Lead year-end financial close and audit preparation, ensuring fiscal year-end compliance requirements are met • Maintain organizational and project budgets; prepare budget-to-actual reports and flag variances • Prepare and review funder claims and reports, ensuring eligibility, documentation, and deadlines are met • Ensure shared costs, salaries, and benefits are correctly allocated across projects • Oversee payroll processing, remittances, and benefit allocations across funding agreements • Monitor cash flow, banking activity, and short-term forecasts • Supervise the junior accountant, review day-to-day work, provide guidance and feedback, and support their development • Act as primary finance contact during the contract; support the CEO, Directors, and project leads with clear, practical financial guidance • Promote consistent financial practices and accountability across the organization • Handle sensitive financial and employee information with discretion • Take on additional finance-related tasks as required by the CEO • Other duties, as assigned • Report directly to the Chief Executive Officer • Participate in a transition period with the current Director of Finance and a handover period before the end of the contract

🎯 Requirements

• CPA designation (or working toward), with 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience • Experience managing organizational and project budgets, funder claims, and reporting under government, corporate, or philanthropic agreements • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Excel • Nonprofit, Indigenous organization, or project-funded environment experience is a strong asset • Highly organized, clear communicator, comfortable working independently and knowing when to escalate • Committed to respectful, culturally responsive engagement with First Nations colleagues, partners, and communities • Must submit a resume and cover letter through Bamboo HR
