• Support project execution, sales, and business development by providing technical expertise in electrification solutions for EHV/HV substations • Perform power system studies and calculations using power system software • Independently perform in-depth system studies, or specify scope, review, comment on, and oversee third-party providers for those studies • Conduct load flow, reactive power capability and compensation, power factor, short circuit/CSCR, transient switching and insulation coordination, harmonic performance/stability, transient ride-through, dynamic performance, overall system performance, LVRT/HVRT, arc flash, cable selection and sizing, and other design studies • Integrate dedicated studies for systems using combined AC power sources, including conventional generation, AC-BESS, turbines, and renewables • Use frequency- and time-domain simulation tools to perform system studies • Provide clear technical guidance, analysis, and reports to customers, project teams, and stakeholders • Guide and coordinate engineering tasks to meet project and tender requirements • Review and seal work and the work of supervised personnel when applicable
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, including power systems and power electronics subjects • Proven professional experience and technical expertise in power system engineering, preferably AC substations and power plant system studies • Minimum 6 years’ experience in network or transient studies for conventional electric-energy generation, FACTS, renewable energy, or inverter-based power systems • Experience in offshore wind, industrial, utility substations, or grid interconnects • Expertise in frequency- and time-domain simulation tools, such as PSCAD, PSS/E, ETAP, and DIgSILENT PowerFactory • Excellent technical communication skills for providing clear, succinct guidance, analysis, and reports • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%, including internationally, and comply with GE Vernova travel guidelines • Professional engineering license preferred, with willingness to review and seal work • Master’s degree in electrical engineering preferred • Knowledge of NERC and FERC compliance requirements and/or ISO interconnection or transmission planning guidelines • Strong knowledge of medium/high-voltage substation North American standards and guidelines, including IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and NESC • Knowledge of local grid codes and related equipment safety, application, sizing, and integration • Ability to engineer design packages without clear customer specifications • Working knowledge of design calculations for primary and secondary equipment, including battery sizing, DC systems, power transformers, circuit breakers, circuit protection, cables, bus, fittings, insulators, arrestors, ground grids, and lightning protection • For Canada-based positions, legal authorization to work in Canada is required • For U.S.-based positions, legal authorization to work in the United States is required • Must satisfy applicable U.S. export-control citizenship/authorization requirements • Successful completion of a background investigation; drug screen required as applicable for U.S.-based roles
