📋 Description

• Support project execution, sales, and business development by providing technical expertise for EHV/HV substation electrification solutions • Perform power system studies and calculations using power system software • Independently perform or specify, review, comment on, and oversee third-party power system studies • Analyze main circuit parameters • Perform load flow, reactive power capability and compensation, and power factor studies • Perform short circuit and combined short circuit ratio studies • Perform transient switching and insulation coordination studies, including transient overvoltage and recovery voltage analysis • Perform harmonic performance/stability studies • Perform transient ride-through and dynamic performance studies using offline simulation tools • Perform overall system performance assessment studies • Perform LVRT and HVRT studies • Perform arc flash studies • Select and size cables • Integrate dedicated studies for systems using combined AC power sources, including conventional generation, AC-BESS, turbines, and renewables • Use PSCAD, PSS/E, ETAP, and DigSilent PowerFactory for frequency- and time-domain simulations • Provide clear technical guidance, analysis, and reports to customers, project teams, and stakeholders • Coordinate engineering tasks to meet project and tender requirements

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering including power systems and power electronics subjects • Proven professional experience and technical expertise in power system engineering, preferably in AC substations and power plant system studies • Minimum 6 years’ experience of network or transient studies for conventional electric-energy generation, FACTS, renewable energy, or inverter-based power systems in offshore wind, industrial, utility substations, and grid interconnects • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%, including internationally • Professional engineering license is desired, with willingness to review and seal work and the work of others under supervision • Master’s degree in electrical engineering including power systems and power electronics subjects is desired • Knowledge of NERC and FERC compliance requirements and/or ISOs’ interconnection or transmission planning guidelines • Strong knowledge of medium/high-voltage substation North American standards and guidelines, including IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and NESC • Knowledge of local grid codes and related equipment safety, application, sizing, and integration • Working knowledge of design calculations for primary and secondary equipment • Legal authorization to work in Canada for Canadian-based positions • Legal authorization to work in the United States for U.S.-based positions • Compliance with applicable background investigation, drug screen, export control, and citizenship requirements
