📋 Description

• Lead and coordinate all technical aspects of substations and balance of plant for large and high-voltage substation projects • Identify internal and external stakeholders and align technical information, execution strategy, and communications • Develop and update schedules; manage design safety, design reviews, optimization, on-time delivery, risk, and quality control/assurance • Interface with Project Engineering Directors, discipline PEMs, designers, CAD operators, project managers, and support organizations • Prepare and deliver concept and detailed designs, including single-line drawings, substation layouts, equipment erection drawings, construction details, electrical clearances, cabling, auxiliary power, grounding, lightning protection, and control buildings • Produce optimized outdoor AIS general arrangements and indoor HV/MV/LV arrangements for control and GIS buildings • Produce technical specifications and data sheets for major high-voltage equipment • Oversee studies, calculations, and bills of material • Manage combined project BOM and MDL from multiple sources • Write and review high-voltage equipment specifications and support vendor quotation sourcing and reviews • Serve as the single point of contact for customer and project-manager technical issues • Manage technical change control and risk management • Respond to site RFIs and conduct field inspections for compliance verification • Meet customer engineering CTQs • Support HVDC and substation proposals and tenders, including estimating man-hours and applying major equipment • Control technical execution from project launch through closeout

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college; BSEE strongly preferred • Minimum 5 years of experience in transmission and distribution substation engineering for electric utilities and renewable energy power plants • Experience as an Electrical Project Engineer in substation applications, including primary outdoor substation design and required studies • Completed similar high-voltage substation design projects • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%, including international travel • Legally authorized to work in the United States • PE License or P.Eng License desired • In-depth experience applying North American high-voltage substation standards and guidelines, including IEEE, ANSI, NEC, and NESC • Knowledge of local grid codes and high-voltage equipment safety, application, sizing, and integration • Experience engineering design packages without clear customer specifications • Experience with GE GIS equipment • Strong knowledge of HV/MV equipment, including reactors, capacitors, transformers, breakers, disconnect switches, and balance of plant • Professional Engineering license in the United States and willingness to review and seal own work and supervised work • Knowledge of contract and project management, EPC, or EEP project execution • Understanding of civil engineering and substation structural design requirements • Working knowledge of design calculations for primary and secondary equipment, DC systems, transformers, circuit breakers, protection and control, cables, buses, grounding, and lightning protection • Field-testing and commissioning experience with safe work habits • Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting capability • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously • Excellent computer skills, including programming and design automation • Familiarity with AutoCAD, BIM, and Revit strongly desired
