📋 Description

• Lead and coordinate all technical aspects of substations and balance of plant for large and high-voltage substation projects • Identify internal and external stakeholders and align technical information, execution strategy, and communications • Develop and update schedules; manage design safety, design reviews, design optimization, on-time delivery, risk management, and quality control/assurance • Interface with the Project Engineering Director, discipline PEMs, designers, CAD operators, project managers, and support organizations • Prepare and deliver concept and detailed designs for single-line drawings, physical substation layouts, plan and elevation drawings, equipment erection drawings, construction details, HV bus, cable, equipment, clearances, conduit, wiring, auxiliary power, grounding, lightning, and control buildings • Produce optimized outdoor general arrangements for AIS and indoor arrangements for HV/MV/LV equipment in control and GIS buildings • Produce and deliver technical specifications and data sheets for major high-voltage equipment • Oversee or perform studies and calculations and develop bills of material • Manage combined project BOM and MDL from multiple sources; write or review HV equipment specifications and support vendor quotations and reviews • Serve as the single point of contact for customer and project manager technical issues • Manage technical change control and risk management • Respond to site RFIs and conduct field inspections for compliance verification • Meet customer engineering CTQs • Support HVDC and substation proposals and tenders, including estimating labor hours and applying major equipment • Provide technical execution through project closeout

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college • BSEE strongly preferred • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Transmission & Distribution substation engineering for electric utilities and renewable energy power plants • Project experience as an Electrical Project Engineer in substation-type applications, including primary outdoor substation design and required studies • Must have completed similar high-voltage substation design projects • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%, including international travel • PE License or P.Eng License desired • In-depth experience applying North American high-voltage substation standards and guidelines, including IEEE, ANSI, NEC, NESC, and local Grid Codes • Experience with GE GIS equipment desired • Strong knowledge of HV/MV equipment, including reactors, capacitors, transformers, breakers, disconnect switches, and BOP • Professional Engineering license in the United States desired, with willingness to review and seal work • Knowledge of contract and project management, EPC, or EEP project execution • Understanding of civil engineering and substation-related structural design requirements • Working knowledge of design calculations for primary and secondary equipment • Field-testing and commissioning experience with safe work habits • Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting capability • Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously • Excellent personal computer skills, including programming and design automation • Familiarity with AutoCAD, BIM, and Revit strongly desired • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
