• Expand GiveDirectly’s U.S. emergency response capabilities, partnerships, and ambition • Lead program implementation and in-the-moment partnerships for fast, dignified disaster responses • Improve and scale technology-enabled emergency response systems, including targeting and damage assessment tools • Lead operational and technical improvements for major U.S. disasters • Pursue and close new partnerships • Manage and grow dedicated and surge staff teams • Support U.S. portfolio staffing, budgeting, fundraising, and new business development • Collaborate with GiveDirectly’s global emergency response teams • Set vision, build teams, advocate for resources, and communicate GiveDirectly’s value proposition • Oversee end-to-end disaster response design, planning, implementation, and continuous improvement • Identify and operationalize geographic and damage targeting tools • Develop operational processes and partnership agreements with third-party platforms or governments • Assess program design trade-offs, risks, feasibility, and go/no-go decisions • Manage partners, vendors, subgrantees, subcontractors, and internal and external stakeholders • Develop resource requests, manage budgets, and monitor resource utilization • Build the team needed to respond to major disasters and oversee hiring, performance management, offboarding, and talent development • Manage Senior and Program Managers and support their management of field teams • Identify fundraising opportunities and support the full deal cycle from feasibility through contracting and close • Maintain donor and operational partner relationships • Represent GiveDirectly at conferences, media engagements, Town Halls, and other forums • Drive communication and alignment among senior management, donors, partners, researchers, and payment providers • Report to the U.S. Executive Director
• 10+ years of experience managing large-scale program delivery in complex funding environments • Prior humanitarian or emergency experience strongly preferred • Strong technical skills and product sense • Experience with data analysis and evaluating, stress-testing, and building technology platforms and tools • Strong partnership and relationship management background, especially sourcing and deploying cash • Experience working cross-functionally with finance, grants, and partnership teams • Ability to communicate clearly with state agencies, funders, and internal leaders • Strong project management, problem-solving, follow-through, emotional intelligence, and inclusivity • Detail-oriented with focus on program outcomes and timelines • Comfort operating in ambiguity and managing complex risks • Enthusiasm for fast-paced and surge work environments • Ability to give and receive direct, honest, and constructive feedback • English language required; Spanish and additional languages are a plus • Must be able to travel approximately 3–5 times per year for team retreats, convenings, or program visits • Must be able to work East Coast hours • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; GiveDirectly cannot sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas in the U.S. or U.K.
