📋 Description

• Build and grow a strong engineering organization across multiple teams • Create clarity, accountability, and growth for teams, managers, and leads • Establish a credible cross-team delivery system with visible priorities, ownership, dependencies, and capacity • Resolve tradeoffs that individual teams cannot make independently • Partner with Product and Design leadership on domain-level outcomes and execution • Participate in discovery and turn business priorities into executable cross-team plans • Negotiate scope when AI-driven planning speed exceeds engineering validation and delivery capacity • Maintain engineering standards and ensure appropriate depth of technical decision reviews • Build repeatable standards for sound technical judgment • Own production health across the engineering organization • Ensure teams can operate what they ship and respond effectively to failures • Use delivery, quality, and reliability signals to identify interventions and address structural causes • Define organizational delegation, verification, and review practices for AI-assisted engineering • Evolve hiring and leveling criteria for AI-native skills • Mentor managers as they adapt their teams to AI-driven engineering

🎯 Requirements

• Experience leading engineers and managers through organizational scaling across more than one team • Experience setting expectations, coaching employees at different levels, managing performance, supporting career growth and promotions, and handling difficult conversations • Technical depth across more than one technical domain • Ability to engage in design reviews for Java, Python, C#, or similar systems • Ability to challenge API contracts and data models • Knowledge of failure modes and testing strategy • Experience owning production engineering across multiple teams running on AWS or Azure • Experience with observability, SLOs, on-call, incident response, and postmortem follow-through • Experience leading secure, privacy-sensitive systems • Ability to challenge authentication and authorization decisions • Experience with threat modeling, sensitive-data handling, and security remediation • Experience with PHI/HIPAA or comparable regulated environments preferred • Experience using delivery, quality, reliability, and team-health signals, including cycle time, deployment frequency, change failure rate, escaped defects, MTTR, or operational load • Experience creating teams and managers who can make decisions independently and removing organizational friction • Experience leading AI-first engineering in practice • Experience directing AI agents on real work and establishing delegation and verification practices • Bonus: experience managing other engineering managers, leading an AI-native organizational transition, or shaping hiring and leveling criteria at the organizational level
