📋 Description

• Lead and perform powerflow studies using PowerGem TARA and Siemens PSS/E and economic studies using PROMOD to assess interconnection viability • Support Development and Commercial Teams with due diligence studies before interconnection applications • Identify optimal interconnection locations based on cross-functional siting criteria • Review interconnection study reports, validate assumptions, identify errors, inconsistencies, and optimization opportunities • Collaborate with utilities, ISOs, consultants, and internal stakeholders to resolve study issues and reduce network upgrade costs and schedules • Lead negotiation of Generator Interconnection Agreements, amendments, Facility Construction Agreements, and related agreements • Coordinate internal reviews with Legal, Engineering, Development, and Commercial teams • Monitor interconnection agreement milestones and manage risks through Commercial Operation Date • Lead due diligence for M&A projects and brief Development and Commercial teams on findings • Support engineering and design projects, assign technical tasks, and attend internal and external meetings • Review and summarize curtailment studies and support Finance with external consultants • Evaluate transmission and interconnection tariffs, costs, timelines, queue dynamics, and market processes • Develop interconnection strategies and provide technical guidance for project origination, risk assessment, and investment decisions • Build relationships with utilities/ISOs and track interconnection progress • Track tariff changes and key transmission upgrades in North America • Create project interconnection status reports and monitor LGIA milestones • Train junior IPEs in load-flow simulations and transmission-grid capacity analysis

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical engineering; Master’s and/or MBA preferred • Ten (10) years of transmission and interconnection planning experience on renewable projects • At least two years of solar photovoltaic and energy storage utility scale projects • Development or transmission planning experience at a utility, ISO/RTO, or project developer • Proficient use of GE PSLF, Siemens PSS/E, PROMOD and AutoCAD software • Ability to work autonomously at a dynamic pace, find creative solutions, and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences • Experience communicating and working with utilities, consulting firms, ISO/RTOs, and regulators • Experience successfully executing projects from inception through development and into engineering while providing strong technical direction in power engineering, especially interconnection tariff knowledge • Experience performing due diligence for solar and energy storage assets preferred • PE license preferred but not required
