• Handle large and complex commercial property claims through all distribution channels • Manage, investigate, analyze, negotiate, and resolve claims generally with exposures over $1M or involving specialized losses • Engage and manage internal and external counsel, consultants, adjusters, accountants, appraisers, and engineers • Confirm coverage, determine liability, and assess damages • Mentor, guide, and provide technical advice to regional file handlers • Train colleagues on complex claims handling • Work with Underwriting, Loss Prevention, and other stakeholders to identify risks, hazards, and trends • Share feedback and lessons learned • Provide customer service to brokers, customers, and colleagues • Deliver key performance indicators relating to loss development, loss adjustment expenses, claims leakage control, and expense management • Support best-practice operations in a creative, continuous-improvement environment • Attend settlement conferences and trials
• 10+ years of experience with the direct handling of large and complex commercial property claims • Minimum of 5 years of relevant field experience, including conducting on-site investigations and assessing property damages • Appropriate knowledge of all relevant regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the position • Undergraduate Degree or CIP designation (asset) • Travel required • Valid driver's license • Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset • Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada from the anticipated start date and throughout employment • Ability to manage, investigate, analyze, negotiate, and resolve large and complex commercial property claims • Ability to engage and manage counsel, consultants, adjusters, accountants, appraisers, and engineers • Ability to mentor, guide, provide technical advice, and train colleagues on complex claims handling
