📋 Description

• Architect and develop WebRTC APIs, real-time communication solutions, and web applications for voice, video, and messaging • Lead architecture and development of large-scale distributed backend systems supporting live video workflows • Collaborate with product, engineering, design, and frontend teams to define, design, and deliver features • Drive design and implementation with focus on testability, maintainability, scalability, and engineering quality • Provide project designs, estimates, and technical roadmap planning • Design APIs, services, and infrastructure optimized for audio/video quality, latency, bandwidth, and real-time functionality • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, code defects, and performance problems end-to-end • Conduct testing, monitoring, and critical analysis of results • Implement WebRTC, SIP, RTP/SRTP, transcoder, packaging, and media-processing workflows • Write maintainable, documented code and produce code, API, architecture, and system design documentation • Mentor and coach engineers and champion clean code, security by design, TDD, test automation, and documentation practices • Collaborate with engineering leadership and Security/Compliance teams to establish technical roadmaps and ensure SOC2 compliance • Evaluate emerging technologies • Develop user manuals, technical guidelines, public API documentation, and SDKs • Communicate technical updates and decisions to executive and non-technical audiences

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent years of experience • 8+ years of software development experience with a distinguished track record in audio/video content delivery, media streaming platforms, or equivalent • 5+ years of experience with WebRTC, real-time communication protocols, and designing and scaling video platforms • Strong distributed systems background, including microservices, APIs, and cloud infrastructure • Experience owning the design of major application components • Expert-level proficiency with WebRTC, SIP, media streaming, TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, networking, DevOps, media servers, AWS, and communications protocols • GitHub, Jira, Git-based workflows, and modern CI/CD methodologies • Build/test automation, unit testing, integration testing, and performance testing • HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, and ReactJS • Node.js backend development • WebRTC APIs, infrastructure, frameworks, WebRTC-internals, and ICE troubleshooting • WebSocket, STUN/TURN, SIP, H.323, RTP/SRTP, telecommunications standards, and VoIP technologies • Voice codecs including G.711, Opus, and AAC • Video codecs including H.264/AVC, H.265/HEVC, VP8/VP9, and AV1 • FFMPEG, HLS, RTSP, RTMP, MPEG-DASH, and CMAF • Transcoding and packaging workflows; PSNR, SSIM, and VMAF video quality metrics • Low-latency video, socket-based architectures, and media servers including FreeSWITCH, Asterisk, and AWS Chime • TCP, UDP, HTTP, WebSocket, firewall traversal, firewalls, routers, MPLS networks, media relays, and reverse proxies • Server-side media processing and SFU/MCU architectures • AWS, GCP, or Azure; Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform • Event-driven architectures, MongoDB, and ProtoBuf • OWASP Secure Coding Guidelines, security-by-design principles, and SOC2 compliance • Monitoring tools including Datadog, AWS CloudWatch, New Relic, Prometheus, and Grafana • Debugging distributed systems, performance tuning, and heap dump analysis • Technical writing, documentation creation, UX principles, interface design, and communication with technical and non-technical audiences • No relocation allowances or sponsorships at this time
