📋 Description

• Lead Kairos’s new team to turn promising ideas into new programs and shape which bets Kairos makes for the AI safety ecosystem • Own one to three early-stage projects at a time, taking each from concept to an operating project • Evaluate ideas from across the team and ecosystem, including personal ideas, and recommend which are worth pursuing • Build reliable systems for successful pilots and continue owning them or hand them to a long-term owner • Hire and manage people as projects mature into a small team • Help shape organization-wide strategy, assess new programs, and participate in cross-cutting work • Collaborate with AI safety researchers, policy professionals, funders, and organizers • Travel 3–6 times a year for conferences and events, predominantly in the US

🎯 Requirements

• Experience taking a program, organization, product, or community from an idea to something up and running • Clear views about what the AI safety ecosystem is missing and what is worth building • Comfort working with an evolving mandate and changing project portfolio • Deep care about reducing risks from advanced AI • Ability or willingness to attend meetings in the ET time zone preferred • Ability to start within a couple of months of applying generally expected • Visa sponsorship, particularly O-1, may be possible depending on circumstances but is not guaranteed
