📋 Description

• Lead KOHO’s compliance advisory function and own the Privacy Office end to end • Advise Product, Marketing, Technology, Payments, Partnerships, and User Success on products, features, campaigns, and business arrangements • Resolve novel regulatory questions and provide clear written positions • Lead compliance review and sign-off of marketing materials, disclosures, and customer communications • Own Whistleblower and Ethics programs, including intake, investigation oversight, non-retaliation, and Board reporting • Own regulatory compliance management with Legal, including horizon scanning, impact assessment, and implementation of regulatory requirements • Maintain the regulatory obligations inventory and map obligations to owners, policies, and controls • Lead compliance policy, standard, and procedure development and governance • Own and mature KOHO’s enterprise privacy program and act as designated privacy lead • Establish and run Privacy Impact Assessments and govern consent, data collection, use, disclosure, retention, and cross-border transfers • Lead privacy incident and breach response, notifications, assessments, and remediation • Own privacy complaints, access and correction requests, data inventory, privacy notices, and privacy training • Lead, coach, and develop compliance and privacy professionals • Partner with Financial Crime, Compliance Testing, Operational Risk, Internal Audit, Legal, and Tech/Cyber • Represent KOHO with industry associations, peer forums, and regulators • Prepare decision-ready materials for senior management and Board-level committees • Apply AI, automation, and data analytics to compliance and privacy processes • Advise on responsible AI use, including transparency, fairness, explainability, and personal information use • Evaluate and implement RegTech and privacy technology

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive compliance, privacy, or regulatory legal experience in financial services, with meaningful time spent in an advisory capacity • Deep working knowledge of Canadian consumer protection, retail banking or payments, and privacy legislation • Experience building or substantially maturing a privacy program or regulatory change program • Strong people leadership and clear writing skills • Experience in a regulated fintech, neobank, or direct-to-consumer financial institution • Passion for empowering financial wellness • Relevant designation such as CIPP/C, CAMS, CRCM, LL.B/JD, or equivalent is an asset • Legally eligible to work in Canada
