📋 Description

• Own features end-to-end: scope the technical approach, build across frontend and backend, and ship to production • Design and maintain reliable, performant APIs, data models, and backend services • Build polished, accessible frontend experiences with attention to UI/UX details • Build and integrate AI-powered features, from personalized learning experiences to intelligent compliance tooling, from prototype to production • Use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and Copilot to accelerate development and help the team adopt effective AI tooling • Instrument analytics and use data to guide product and engineering decisions • Collaborate closely with product, design, and other engineers to deliver key initiatives • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, technical debt, and reliability issues • Mentor other engineers through code review, pairing, and architectural guidance

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building customer-facing web applications using Ruby on Rails • Strong experience in React • Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and working with relational databases • Comfort owning projects from concept through production, including making architectural trade-offs • Track record of raising the bar for the team through mentorship, code quality, or process improvements • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, or cloud platforms (AWS preferred) • Experience with responsive design, accessibility standards, and cross-browser compatibility • Experience with observability tooling, including logging, monitoring, and alerting • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English • Willingness to work US timezone hours for team collaboration • Experience integrating LLMs or AI/ML services into production applications (preferred) • Experience with A/B testing, personalization, or data-driven content customization (preferred) • Background in a startup or high-growth environment (preferred) • Familiarity with compliance, security awareness, or ed-tech domains (preferred)
