• Design and build highly scalable, extensible, distributed systems through incremental delivery, aligned to a longer-term vision • Set a high technical bar, driving continuous improvement of software design, coding and quality practices • Lead the planning of new initiatives including translating requirements into work streams, and assessing and communicating delivery milestones • Plan day-to-day activities for the team, working with stakeholders and team members, to balance feature delivery and operational health • Inform the technical roadmap to address technical debt and improve scalability/extensibility • Improve operational observability and effectiveness of system monitoring, reporting and alarming • Guide the team’s continuous improvement of the planning and execution processes • Mentor and grow your teammates
• 12+ years of experience as a professional software engineer building, scaling and extending SaaS products • 3+ years managing technical architecture & design and leading initiatives from inception to delivery • Previous startup experience strongly preferred • Hands-on experience in several general purpose languages • Extensive experience designing, building, and integrating with RESTful APIs • Experience with building and scaling relational and NoSQL database platforms (such as MySQL, Postgres, Cassandra, DynamoDB, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticache) • Experience with cloud computing platforms like Amazon AWS or Google Cloud Platform • Experience building high volume, high performance, and highly available products • Experience leading Agile teams with a focus on incremental delivery and improvement • Strong willingness and desire to both learn and mentor
