📋 Description

• Provide field coaching, mentorship, and management to field-based Medical Liaisons • Develop and implement strategies aligned to territory archetypes and patient value framework • Manage relationships with key opinion leaders, organized providers, academic institutions, integrated delivery networks, and other healthcare organizations • Ensure collaboration between field Medical Liaisons and other Novo Nordisk units and personnel • Represent Field Medical Affairs throughout the US affiliate and globally as needed • Provide administrative and management support for the field-based FMA program • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies • Establish operating policies and procedures, budgets, schedules, and performance standards • Lead and participate in area and national projects, team meetings, and training • Maintain knowledge of Novo Nordisk products, scientific research, and publications • Coordinate FMA activities at medical and scientific meetings and symposia • Present at symposia and maintain relationships with healthcare providers • Participate in Marketing and Sales meetings and provide industry insight • Profile and identify investigators for clinical trials and future research • Respond to medical questions in accordance with legal, regulatory, and company guidelines • Review direct-report expense reports, time, activities, plans, and budgets • Coordinate support for research, teaching, CME, educational, product, and clinical-study activities • Work with Regional and Medical Marketing teams to develop thought-leader relationships • Assist with presentations for Pre-POA, POA, and other company meetings • Assist sales training with product knowledge and clinical-data education • Recruit and select staff and fill open positions • Set and review annual goals and coach personnel on individual development plans • Communicate Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and organizational changes • Coordinate training and development approaches with other Field Directors • Ensure personnel understand strategic and therapeutic priorities and accountability for results • Evaluate Medical Liaisons in the field and provide documented feedback and guidance • Mentor Field Directors, Medical Liaisons, and RMSs • Prepare Medical Liaisons for field activities by reviewing agendas and presentation decks • Build personnel capabilities in scientific knowledge, business practices, communication, and motivation • Establish a challenging, productive, and fair work environment • Spend field time with direct reports to coach and develop them • Assess workforce talent and capability gaps and plan resource needs • Ensure reporting personnel maintain development plans, goals, measurements, and learning plans • Manage application and communication of Novo Nordisk policies and Novo Nordisk Way

🎯 Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience in Medical Liaison or equivalent role required • 6 years of previous management experience required, including at least 2 years leading field medical affairs personnel • Internal FAD experience may substitute for 6 years of management experience • 8 years of progressive pharmaceutical industry experience required • At least 3 years of healthcare-system experience preferred • Advanced healthcare or science degree required, such as DO, MD, PharmD, PhD, or DNP • Direct therapeutic-area experience preferred • Proven success establishing relationships with opinion leaders and organized providers • Strategy and team-management experience • Significant cross-functional collaborative leadership capabilities • Ability to establish and strengthen internal and external customer relationships • Ability to enhance Novo Nordisk’s image and operations as a leading diabetes-care company • Ability to identify, address, and resolve team-wide challenges with minimal supervision • Commitment to self-development, leadership/personal development, scientific literature, and competitor knowledge • Ability to work autonomously and strategically and share best practices • Flexibility and foresight to navigate field medical personnel through a changing market • Leadership skills to support less experienced Field Directors in strategic thinking and problem solving • Must reside in the US, preferably on the east coast or near a major airport • Valid driver’s license required • Must remain within Novo Nordisk’s Motor Vehicle Records points threshold • Ability to travel overnight 50–75%
