• Respond to reported concerns and support the investigation process • Provide consultation, facilitation, guidance, training, and education on employment and labor relations matters • Maintain appropriate confidentiality • Resolve complex or sensitive employee and labor relations issues involving conflicts, attendance, code of conduct, performance, and related concerns • Partner with HR, Legal, OCIC, Integrity, Public Safety, Labor Relations, and other experts • Manage cases and maintain documentation in the employee relations case management system • Attend grievance meetings and provide guidance and recommendations for grievance responses • Consult with Labor Relations on complex grievances and difficult cases • Interpret and provide guidance on HR policies and procedures, performance management, conflict resolution, discipline, grievances, arbitrations, and employee relations services • Build collaborative relationships and provide exceptional service to organizational missions • Apply a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens to identify themes and trends, design and deliver interventions, and drive continuous improvement • Coordinate with OCIC and Occupational Health on reasonable accommodations and related employment decisions • Recommend and draft new and updated policies, procedures, and bargaining concepts • Participate in collective bargaining when needed and assigned • Ensure employee relations communications are reviewed, provided to employees, and submitted to the union when necessary
• Bachelor’s degree in business, HR or related field, and/or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training • 3 years of progressively responsible Human Resource experience, including Employee or Labor relations experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience • Demonstrated ability to conduct investigations respectfully and professionally while upholding OHSU values, policies, procedures, and documentation • Strong understanding and application of federal, state, and local employment and labor laws • Ability to guide leaders in employee relations decisions aligned with organizational policies, procedures, and legal requirements • Willingness and ability to provide training • Effective conflict resolution skills and ability to navigate sensitive, emotional, and/or difficult situations with empathy • Ability to draft concise and factually accurate reports • Knowledge of investigatory best practices • Ability to understand how different perspectives, experiences, and cultures affect situations and the investigation process • Preferred: experience working in a unionized healthcare or education environment
• Remote role with limited travel to Portland, Oregon • Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00am–5:00pm • Regular full-time position
