• Function in a local controller capacity for a 3-hospital community health consortium and associated outpatient/medical group facilities • Manage financial accounting across assigned hospital entities • Partner with accounting and financial operations leaders • Ensure compliance with healthcare-specific U.S. GAAP, GASB standards, and state/federal healthcare regulations • Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close cycles • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analyses, financial statements, balance sheet reviews, and operational report packages • Oversee clinical subledger integrations, including patient billing, revenue cycle, accounts payable, and payroll, into the general ledger • Evaluate accounting workflows, identify bottlenecks, and drive defect reduction • Author and update SOPs, desk procedures, and local accounting guidelines • Use ERP and clinical financial management tools to automate journal entries and ledger reconciliations • Maintain internal controls over healthcare assets • Serve as operational contact for internal and external auditors and manage audit requests • Oversee tax compliance data collection and healthcare reporting mandates • Lead, mentor, and manage general accountants and financial analysts • Liaise with clinical leadership, department managers, procurement teams, and university accounting stakeholders • Support Procure-to-Pay accounting, inventory valuation, and supplier invoice matching
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in general ledger accounting, financial operations, or controller-level financial management • Experience working within a hospital system, healthcare consortium, medical group, or complex multi-entity operating environment • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience supervising accounting staff, managing month-end close schedules, and reviewing team outputs • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and/or GASB standards, accrual accounting, financial statement preparation, and internal controls • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and ability to liaise with operational managers and executive leadership • Hands-on proficiency with Oracle PeopleSoft Financials; familiarity with Workday, Oracle, or SAP • Experience with healthcare EHR/billing integrations • Experience applying Lean, Kaizen, or Root Cause Analysis • Understanding of Procure-to-Pay in hospital/clinical settings • Active Virginia CPA license or reciprocal U.S. CPA license with ability to obtain Virginia licensure is highly preferred • Preferred: Master’s degree in Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or MBA • Preferred: CHFP, CMA, CGFM, or CIA certifications • Authorized to work in USA
