📋 Description

• Plan, organize, and implement activities related to charging, billing, collections, and cash management • Evaluate, coordinate, develop, and implement billing processes focused on critical access hospital, rural health clinic, and facility-based workflows • Process electronic and paper claims accurately and timely • Resolve clearinghouse and DDE claim errors and payer rejections • Follow up on underpaid or unpaid claims • Research and resolve reimbursement issues, including medical necessity, coding discrepancies, and facility-specific billing requirements • Review post-insurance balances for proper adjudication • Resolve overpayments and reconcile facility claims and cost-based reimbursements • Process payer correspondence and take appropriate action • Maintain aging reports and address accounts nearing timely filing limits • Resolve denied claims through reconsideration and appeals processes • Document account activity in the EHR system • Review and act on accounts receivable reports • Prepare reports addressing payer discrepancies and facility reimbursement issues • Maintain accurate payer setup • Stay current on CMS, Medicaid, and commercial payer regulations • Perform reimbursement analysis • Monitor third-party payer contracts • Maintain proficiency in EHR, clearinghouse, and payer systems • Communicate escalated billing or payer issues to leadership • Participate in meetings, training, and continuing education • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma required • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred • Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience required • Critical Access Hospital (CAH) billing strongly preferred • Hospital/facility billing required • Rural Health Clinic (RHC) billing preferred • Experience with facility-based claims, UB-04 billing, and payer reimbursement methodologies • Strong knowledge of medical and insurance terminology • Proficiency with Microsoft Office • Knowledge of Nebraska payer rules is a plus • Stable internet connection, dedicated workspace, and access to necessary equipment • Ability to communicate consistently via phone, email, and video conferencing • Ability to access confidential information and follow privacy and security policies
